On the Obverse, in the foreground on the right, is a portrait of the Greek patriot Laskarina Bouboulina, while in the background on the left, the mast and rigging of a sailing ship are depicted in a stylized manner. Along the entire inner edge are the circular inscriptions “200 ΧΡΟΝΙΑ ΑΠΟ ΤΟΝ ΘΑΝΑΤΟ ΤΗΣ ΛΑΣΚΑΡΙΝΑΣ ΜΠΟΥΜΠΟΥΛΙΝΑΣ” (“200 YEARS SINCE THE DEATH OF LASKARINA BOUBOULINA”) and “ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ” (HELLENIC REPUBLIC in Greek), which frame the design. On the right, between the inscription and the design, is the mintmark of Athens, with the minting year below it. Further down on the right are the author's initials. On the outside are 12 five-pointed stars, the symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value '2' on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.

The Obverse depicts the greek composer Mikis Theodorakis, facing left and in the act of directing. Along almost the entire inner edge are engraved the circular inscriptions “100 ΧΡΟΝΙΑ ΑΠΟ ΤΗ ΓΕΝΝΗΣΗ ΤΟΥ ΜΙΚΗ ΘΕΟΔΩΡΑΚΗ” (“100 YEARS SINCE THE BIRTH OF MIKIS THEODORAKIS”), at the top, and “ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ” (HELLENIC REPUBLIC in Greek), at the bottom left.
