Coins of Croatia
The Republic of Croatia gained independence on June 25, 1991, with the dissolution of Yugoslavia, and after a transition period of about three years, during which a temporary currency, the Croatian Dinar, was introduced, it adopted its own currency, the Croatian Kuna (the exchange rate with the dinar was 1000:1). The new currency will remain legal tender until the country joins the euro on January 1, 2023, when Croatia will become the 24th country to mint coins in the common currency.
