1 eurocent Greece
The Obverse depicts the model of the ancient triremes, a large warship dating from the time of Athenian democracy in the 5th century BC. Below the ship is the inscription '1 ΛEΠTO' followed, further to the right, by the engraver's signature. Above the hull are the minting year and the mintmark. On the outside part are placed 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European Union. On 2002 coins, if minted by the French mint, there is an additional 'F' mintmark inserted in the star at 10 o'clock. The coin's Reverse is the common side of Euro coins, with the face value '1 EURO CENT' and the image of Europe's place in the world. Six diagonal lines with a star at each end are placed behind the globe.
