The Obverse depicts the stylised inscription '1863' with a sprout emerging from the number 6. Surrounding, in an arc, is the inscription 'SUOMI FINLAND' followed by the minting year '2013' and the mintmark between the two words. On the outer part 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value '2' on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription 'EURO'. Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: finely milled, with the inscription "SUOMI FINLAND" in incuse followed by three lion heads.

125th anniversary of the birth of Frans Eemil Sillanpää

The Obverse depicts the portrait of the writer Frans Eemil Sillanpää (Nobel Prize for Literature in 1939). Above, in an arc, is the inscription 'F.E. SILLANPAA'. To the left is the year '1888' and at the bottom, the mintmark, while on the right, the minting year '2013', the year '1964' and at the bottom, the initials 'FI' identifying Finland. On the outer part 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union.
