1st type: Queen Beatrix, years 1999-2006

1 Euro Netherlands observe        1 Euro Netherlands reverse 1st type

The Obverse depicts the portrait of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, facing left. On the right, arranged in three lines, is the inscription "BEATRIX KONINGIN DER NEDERLANDEN" followed by the minting year. On the outside part, to the left, are the 12 five-pointed stars, symbol of the European Union, while at the bottom centre, the mintmark and the mintmaster's mark are engraved. The coin's Reverse is the old common side of Euro coins, with the face value "1" on the left and the European Union (before its enlargement) on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
Edge: interrupted milled.
Diameter: 23,25 mm
Thickness: 2,33 mm
Weight: 7,5 g
Composition: bimetallic coin (outer part: nickel-brass, inner part: copper-nickel).

On the Obverse we find on the left the portrait of the new King Willem Alexander, facing to the right, followed by three vertical lines in which are placed the inscription "WILLEM ALEXANDER KONING DER NEDERLANDEN" and the minting year. The mintmark and the mintmaster's mark are engraved below and above the minting year respectively. On the outside part are placed 12 five-pointed stars, representing the European Union. The coin's Reverse is the new common side of Euro coins, with the face value "1" on the left and the European continent on the right, overlapped by the inscription "EURO". Six vertical lines with a star at each end are placed behind the Europe's image.
